(ITA) Le Fonti del Clitunno, hanno ispirato poeti e scrittori del passato: Virgilio ne parla nelle Georgiche, Claudiano e Properzio cantarono le qualità soprannaturali di queste acque, Plinio il Giovane ne parla in una sua lettera ad un amico. Nei tempi moderni le Fonti del Clitunno furono ritratte da Corot e cantate da Byron e Carducci. I terremoti del 446 d.C., hanno disperso gran parte delle vene d’acque, per cui il luogo fu lentamente abbandonato, e dei templi e delle ville che l’abbellivano è rimasta una sola costruzione, detta Tempietto del Clitunno.

(ENG) The Clitunno springs are extraordinarily beautiful waters flowing into the Clitunno River, the sacred river of antiquity. They belong to the municipality of Campello, which was already inhabited at the times of the Umbrian population; this territory, Etruscan first and Roman afterwards, represents the expression of a melting-pot of ancient populations. The same territory includes the municipalities of Bevagna, Trevi and Montefalco, crossed by the ancient Via Flaminia.
